Speech language therapist
Communication is at the heart of who we are and how we interact with the world around us.
As a speech language therapist, I believe in evidence-based, practical intervention that is tailored to the needs of anyone dealing with communication difficulties. Working alongside a child (or adult) and their whanau is the best way to achieve goals and really make a difference for that individual.
I have 15+ years experience working with a variety of clients; previously across the wider Auckland region for the Auckland District Health Board and more recently here in Taupō with Speech Central (since early 2018), predominantly working with children between 2-7 years old. I currently enjoy a great deal of variety in my work as a speech language therapist, working with children's speech and language difficulties, adults with acquired language difficulties (following stroke), people with communication difficulties after brain injury and adults with voice disorders.
I am also the Community Aphasia* Advisor for AphasiaNZ Charitable Trust in the Central Lakes area. In this role I provide support and raise awareness for people with aphasia. *Aphasia is an acquired language disorder often resulting from stroke.
My family and I have lived in Taupō since 2018. We absolutely love living here and getting out into nature for hiking, mountain biking, cold lake dips and snowboarding as much as possible.
